I converted from raw in Capture One 5, tweaked the clarity up to 30, converted to a tiff in CS4, used smartsharpen at 80 and then loaded it on to Niks Silverfxpro to convert into B&W using the High Structure preset and voila! So in answer to your question, yes!
As for the M9, it's a great camera but not so very much greater than the M8 in my opinion, which currently go on eBay for a third of the price. The M9 does make cropping easier and more satisfying and there are a number of handling improvements but don't listen to the naysayers about the M8 it's a brilliant camera and much cheaper! In truth bodies are very much secondary to lenses in my view. And that's where it gets expensive!!:-)
